Spine Deformity.
Adult degenerative spine deformity and adolescent scoliosis.
What is spinal deformity?
This condition is an abnormal curvature of the spine. It most often develops in early childhood, just before a child reaches puberty. Another cause of spinal deformity can occur in adulthood and be due to degenerative disc disease.
Adolescent Scoliosis.
Scoliosis can occur during growth, particularly during growth spurt/puberty. In some cases scoliosis can be caused by cerebral palsy or neuromuscular conditions but in most cases the cause is unknown. Dr. Molina has had the privilege of training with pediatric orthopaedic spine surgeons at Shriners Hospital in Lexington, KY during residency and trained in adolescent deformity at Texas Back Institute.
Adult Deformity.
We treat all types of adult deformity. Not all degenerative scoliosis requires surgery. Many patients are able to achieve active lifestyles with conservative management. If a patient does require surgery we offer patients the most innovative techniques such as minimally invasive approaches to the spine and the use of computer assisted navigation.
